FIRST CONTACT (1993-1997) 1. WBQC is on the air. We first went on air in 1990 above a location called Dollar Bills Saloon. 2.
Two shows make their debut. Our first program was
called "Stump Stoney," hosted by Mark "Stoney"
Shoner, of course. Shortly thereafter, "Ask The
Program Director"was shown starring Bryan Hollon. 3. Live production begins with a bang. Rick Flynn is introduced to the public. Live production went to another level as we produced a "New Year's Eve Special with Rick Flynn." Our desire to produce local programs was realized as we produced and televised the first ever Cincinnati Cyclones hockey game in March of 1991 using five cameras. 4.
WBQC moves to new location. With success comes growth
and that's what we did. After having the most live coverage
of the Sanders Hall implosion, we moved out of Dollar
Bills Saloon and relocated to our new studios in Golf
Manor. Our transmitter was moved shortly thereafter
from the Clifton location to the top of the Vernon Manor
Hotel.5. Marcus T. is In The House. The live show "In The House with Marcus T" was produced in 1991. Featuring live phone in callers, in-studio guests and a variety of music videos, Marcus T. Franklin hosted a show that became a channel 25 cult hit. We recorded over 100 episodes and syndicated the show to cities such as Philadelphia, where it ran for 24 hours straight in an "In The House" marathon! 6.
Local events hit the air. 1992 marked the year when
we developed several relationships with other media
outlets. We aired a men's Xavier basketball game during
primetime, a production done by Xavier's Cincinnati's
station, WCPO Channel 9. Later that year we put our
mark on the community by collaborating with Citicable
to produce the annual "Findlay Market Parade,"
and "Riverfest." |
